Week 1 ReflectionSession 1
Asslamu a'laimum to everyone! Today I am happy to do the reflection that I learned during this week. This is the time getting to know each other between lecturer and students. After introduce to each other we go into the first session. It talks about the differences of Data and Information.
What is data? Data is a collection of facts, such as values or measurements.it can be numbers, pictures, letters, observations or even just description of thing that can be processed by a computer. It used as input processing. When data form as group, it becomes information that is meaningful.
What is Information? Information is data that is processed, organized, structured or presented is a given context as to make it useful and it uses to make decision.
Computer process data into information
Data integrityData integrity is a term used to refer to the accuracy and reliability of data. Data must be complete, with no variation or compromise from the original, to be considered reliable and accurate.
What is GIGO?
Stands for"Garbage In and Garbage Out." It means that if invalid data is entered in a computer program, the resulting output will be also invalid. So if a program asked you to enter a letter of the alphabet and you decided to be funny and enter "3.4756", the result would be pretty mess up, so GIGO is error.
The qualities of valuable of information
Information And economic
Before the day of connectivity, if the company want to deliver a lot of highly interactive information or products to people, they either had to pay a lot of money or settle for communicating with limited number of people. You had to sacrifice reach for richness. But now everyone is able to have incredibly rich communication with someone else.Information has two basic elements:
- Reach: The number of people (at home or at work) exchanging information.
- Richness: The amount of quality of information shared in transaction.
- Bandwidth: The information that can be moved from sender to receiver in the given time.
- Customization: Whether the information is tailored to an audience of a particular size.
- Interactivity : The extent to which the involved parties can converse.
